A beautiful tour in the garden over 200 hectares, with beautiful trees, bats , big giant water lilies , giant tortoises and deer , 85 different species of palm trees, baobab and others...
Not to be missed as it is incredible! You will discover a beautiful story of Mauritius through this visit. Although it lacks some maintenance by lack of funding and manpower is one of the finest botanical gardens I have visited.
The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden is a must in Mauritius. It is also called The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden. The garden is located minutes from Port Louis, the capital.
The Pamplemousses Botanical gargen was created 3 centuries ago by the French governor Mahé de Labourdonnais as his second home. And thanks to the French botanist, Pierre Poivre this garden became an unmissable in Mauritius with over 80 species of palms. Note that Patrice Poivre D’ Arvor is a descendant of the famous Pierre Poivre.
